Sierra Lyons is a freelance journalist covering race, justice, politics and Christianity. Through reporting, she hopes to promote equity and justice as she often intersects her four points of coverage. She is a recent graduate of Florida A&M University where she served as the opinion editor for FAMU’s newspaper, The Famuan, and is also a former editorial intern for The American Prospect magazine. Lyons was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida, where she spends her free time at the beach year-round.

Allegra Montesano

Allegra Montesano is a student journalist at the University of Central Florida. She is pursuing a major in electronic news journalism and a minor in political science pre-law. Her passion for journalism is driven by her love of truth, learning, and justice. She will be joining the WMFE 90.7 team as an intern in spring 2022. Shivani Persaud

Shivani Mohini Persaud is a graduate student at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, studying communications and national security. She aims to uplift underrepresented communities through multimedia storytelling. In January 2022, she will be a communications and graphics intern with NASA. She is the former Managing Editor for NSM Today, the student-run media outlet at UCF, and has also worked with Lockheed Martin and the Council on Foreign Relations. Shivani was born and raised in Queens, New York, and has also been pursuing poetry and Indian classical music since childhood.

Elliot Rodriguez

Elliot Rodriguez is a student at Florida Atlantic University majoring in multimedia studies. He’s a freelance producer at WLRN, where he also recently completed an internship. Rodriguez was a collegiate baseball player and has experience in editing and mixing audio in his free time. When he’s not chasing stories, you can find him looking for records to sample at record shops in Miami. His goal is to pursue a career in public radio for NPR in Washington D.C.

Sabrina Salovitz

Sabrina Salovitz is a senior at Florida Gulf Coast University majoring in journalism and minoring in political science and interdisciplinary studies. She is the editor-in-chief of Eagle News and a fellow at WGCU Public Media. Her goal is to be a political journalist and shine a spotlight on issues that affect everyday people. Sabrina spent her first ten years in Southern Massachusetts but has called Port Charlotte, Florida, home for the last eleven.

Lily Theisen

Lily Theisen is a third year digital communications and multimedia journalism student at the University of South Florida, St. Petersburg campus. She is passionate about informing the public through media to help create a better understanding of the world. Lily is currently the social media intern at WUSF Public Media and previously worked as the digital services intern on The Zest Podcast for WUSF. She is also the co-captain of the women’s varsity sailing team at USF and takes pride in her experience as a student athlete.
